SUMMARY REPORT OF FEBRUARY 5, 2009 SENIOR COMMISSION MEETING
CONSENT CALENDAR
The consent calendar was unanimously approved (5-0).
1. AB # 0209-1 SUMMARY REPORT - (ACTION)
Accepted, approved and filed the Summary Report of the December 3, 2008 Senior
Commission Meeting.
2. AB # 0209-2 RECEIPT OF DONATION - (ACTION)
Recommended acceptance of donation by the City Manager from The San Diego Foundation.
3. AB # 0209-3 RECEIPT OF DONATION - {ACTION)
Recommended acceptance of donation by the City Manager from John and Mary Curtin.
4. AB # 0209-4 RECEIPT OF DONATION - (ACTION)
Recommended acceptance of donation by the City Manager from Sheila Hsu.
DEPARTMENT REPORTS:
None
COMMISSIONER/STAFF REPORTS
1. Manager's Report - Lynn provided an update on the Cost Recovery Pyramid Model
for FY 09/10 and a 5% budget cut for the FY 08/09. She also reported that the Parks
Maintenance division has joined the Recreation Department and has now created a new Parks
and Recreation Department. Lynn will bring back the Senior Center Guidelines for Participation
and Guidelines Facility Use at the April Meeting for Commission Review.
2. Nutrition Report - Jack Risley provided Congregate and Home Meal statistics for
January 2009: 2,140 Congregate Meals and 647 Home Meals were served in a 20-day period.
A suggested Congregate Meal donation has increased from $3.00 to $3.50 and a Home Meal
suggested donation has increased from $3.75 to $4.00 effective January 1, 2009. There were
474 transportation trips with meals and 61 trips without meals, a total of 535 trips.
