znd Annual Senior Prom
The second annual "Senior Prom" was held Thursday, February 15th and was a huge success. This event
is part of a partnership with Sage Creek High School's Genius Project. The Genius Project is a
requirement for each 12th grader as part of their English curriculum. Students must complete a project
that incorporates service to their community. The Senior Prom was the idea of Torrey Ryhne, a
graduate of the class of 2017. This year's student, Emily Sim build upon the foundation that Torrey
established and produced a wonderful event. In addition to working with Senior Center staff to
organize the event, Emily personally traveled to neighboring north county senior centers to market and
promote the event. She also involved many of her peers from school. In all, there were over 50
participants along with 16 student volunteers. It was a great event!

Facility Improvements
The billiards room at the Carlsbad Senior :Center is one of the most highly used rooms at the facility.
This room and the two billiard tables that are housed in it are in constant use during the operational
hours of the center. In an effort to continue to offer our guests the best experience possible, the two
billiard tables were recently resurfaced with the highest quality billiard felt, Simonis 860 HR. Due to the
high use these tables receive, senior center staff will plan to resurface these tables every 18-24
months.
