The Senior Citizen Commission meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month at City Council Chambers at 9:30am.
The Commission Agenda is posted on the Senior Citizens Commission page on a monthly basis.
PURPOSE: To encourage and promote senior citizen involvement and participation in City activities. To provide an
avenue for senior citizens to express their concerns to City officials. To provide regular input regarding senior citizen-
related problems in the community. To make recommendations to the City Council on issues pertaining to seniors in
the community.

The Senior Citizens Commission shall act as a community forum and advise the City Council on all matters pertaining to the
concerns of senior citizens, including, but not limited to, recreational opportunities, current and expanded social services; low-
cost housing, federal, state and local legislation, use of the City's senior citizens center; senior citizens programming in other
communities, donations to senior citizens programs and other revenue sources which are or which may be available to
provide funding for city programs for senior citizens.

Commission for the Senior Community
Santa Monica's Commission for the Senior Community focuses on preserving and improving the quality of life for Santa Monicans 60
and older. The Commission advises City Council on a wide range of issues relevant to older adults. The Commission also provides
opportunities to educate seniors, their families and caregivers on these issues. The Commission consists of 9 Council-appointed
Santa Monica residents.
Meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month form 1:30pm - 3:30pm at the Ken Edwards Center (1527 4th St).

Senior Commission
The five member Senior Commission advises the City Council and staff on matters concerning the City's Senior
Citizens Center. The Commission acts as a voice for the City's senior population. The Senior Commission meets
on the first Wednesday on each month at 10:00 a.m. Senior Commission meetings are held in the Council
Chambers at Walnut City Hall, 21201 La Puente Road, Walnut, CA 91789. All meetings are open to the public and
the public may address the commission during the oral communications portion of the meeting.

Senior Citizens Affairs Commission
The purpose of the Senior Citizens Affairs Commission is to make recommendations to and advise the City Council
with respect to all matters pertinent to senior citizens in the City of Vista. The powers and duties are set forth in
Chapter 2.56 of the Vista Municipal Code.
The Commission’s charge is to: a) identify, study and analyze the problems and needs pertaining to senior citizens
and devise methods of focusing the attention of the community in solving them; b) inventory community
resources for dealing with such needs and problems; c) determine which agencies, organizations and institutions
are most capable of dealing with specific needs and problems and to recommend development and
implementation of effective programs; d) periodically review the effectiveness of programs and, when necessary,
recommend modification and redirection and use of alternative or additional resources; provide a forum before
which senior citizens may bring their specific problems; e) study and make recommendations to the City Council
on any other problems and needs of senior citizens which the City Council or the Commission may deem
appropriate.
There are seven members on the Commission who serve two-year terms; at least three members shall be senior
citizens. Community Services Program Manager Donna Meester is the Staff Liaison.
Qualifications for membership:
Resident of the City of Vista
18 years of age
At least three members of the Commission must be 55 years of age or older.

Meetings
Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of every other month at 1:00 p.m. in the Conference Room at the
Gloria E. McClellan Senior Center, 1400 Vale Terrace Drive.

Senior Citizen Commission
Purpose
The Anaheim Senior Citizen Commission was established by the City Council as an advisory body to
make recommendations concerning the needs of senior citizens in the community.

Members
The Senior Citizen Commission is a 7 member commission (Roster). Each member of the
Commission shall be sixty (60) years of age or older, a resident of the City of Anaheim and shall not
hold any paid office or employment in the City government. Each member of the Commission shall
serve a term that runs concurrently with the current term of the elected official who appointed the
member and until his or her successor is appointed and qualified.

13 members, one nominated by each of the 7 Councilmembers and the Mayor. The Mayor shall nominate one
member from persons recommended by any of the other 7 Councilmembers. The Pasadena Senior Center shall
nominate one member, and the Huntington Hospital Senior Care Network shall nominate one member. Human
service agencies providing services in Pasadena shall recommend two representatives for nomination.

The Senior Citizen Commission shall conduct public hearings to gather information and thereafter make
recommendations to the City Council on matters regarding services for Senior Citizens which include, without
limitation: Policies and plans for the development and operation of programs and services for the benefit of Senior
Citizens within the City; policies and plans for developing programs and services in cooperation with other public
and private agencies which would benefit Senior Citizens; and such matters that may be referred to the Commission
by the City Council.
