HomeMy WebLinkAbout2020-07-06; Traffic and Mobility Commission; ; POLICE REPORTMonthly Police Report July 6, 2020 By: Lieutenant Christie Calderwood June Protests •The Police Department worked 8 protests over a 5 day period in June •Specifically, the Traffic Division was in charge of creating a safe environment for all residents, protestors and businesses as well as creating a traffic plan, organizing road closure signage with the Streets Dept., and working with the Protest Organizer from Carlsbad 2 Fatal Collision •June 24th –Carlsbad Village Dr/ Valley St •Solo rollover vehicle collision at 0225am •8 juveniles in vehicle, which was speeding •1 juvenile passed away on scene •7 others transported to hospitals with injuries 3 Loud Exhaust Enforcement in June •Electronic Message Board placed for two weeks at Poinsettia/Carlsbad Blvd educating people of enforcement re: loud exhaust •Board will be placed again next week for the same. We received an email from a resident advising this signage made a big difference •7 Motorists given a warning or citation for exhaust 4 Bicycle Safety & Enforcement •Bicycle Patrol Officers out in June along the Blvd and in the Village •45 bicyclists given a warning or citation for riding the wrong way •25 bicyclists given a warning or citation for riding on the sidewalk 5
