Cmn. Neiswender, Elmer H. Jose, Jr. and C. R.
Helton. Chairman Prescott and City Manager
Mamaux were absent. Also present were architects
Weber & Edwards .
The Minutes of the meeting held on May 10, 1967,.
were approved as presented.
Old Business: Cmn. Dunne reported a presenta-
tion of the proposed plans was made to the City
Council at their regular meeting held on May 16,
1967, by the architects, Weber & Edwards, and it
was the Council's feeling the Committee was doing
a satisfactory job.
New Business: Mr. Edwards informed the Committee
they had the following matters scheduled for dis-
cussion at this meeting:
(1 ) Cost of the faci lities.
(2) Exterior wall surface.
(3) Finalize one-story building vs. two-story
building.
(4) Finishschedule.
Cost of Facilities. Two cost figures were pre-
sented by the architects (1) $366,331.00 and (2)
$405,652.00. It was pointed out the exterior
finish of the building will be the determining
factor as far as cost is concerned.
Exterior Wall Surface: If textured masonry is
used( concrete block), the cost is estimated at
$366,331.00, including architectual fees. The
block would be exposed in some of the offices
and some of the offices will be paneled. The
block proposed to be used is referred to as an
"H" block, and will cost approximately $1.75 per
square foot.
The alternative would be precast tilt-up system.
The slabs would be poured at the factory, deliver
ed to the job and installed by factory men. The
panels are sandblasted after they are poured. If
this finish were to be used the cost is estimat-
ed at $405,652.00; however, it was felt the cost
could be cut down to $400,000.00.
By motion of the Committee it was agreed that the
"H" 'block be used for the exterior finish of the
building.
One-story buildin'g vs. two-story building. A
cost figure was presented in regards to a two-
story building. The Architects informed the
committee members in considering a two-story
building the Police Facility could be slid under
the Service Area, which would give additional
space to the Police Facility. The additional
cost for the two-story building is $11,200.00.
