July 2 1957
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Chairman Waiters. Present besides
the Chairman were Commissioners Jeffers, Merkle and Dunne. Also present were
Secretary Ewald. Chief of Police Max Palkowski , Patrolman Urbanski, "Whitey"
Glissman and Fire Chief Harden.
The minutes of the meeting of June 4, 1957 were read and approved as submitted.
SPECIAL EVENTS; Discussion of Special Events to be held on the Lagoon was
Selcn A~Ker considerable discussion it was decided to recommend a policy to the
City Council on all applications for special events to be held and upon motion by
Comm. Merkle and seconded by Jeffers, and a unanimous vote of the Commissioners
present, it was recommended to the City Council that a maximum of three (3) events
a year be allowed on the approval of the City Council. That an application be sub-
mitted by the applying club with the following information:
1. Name of the applying club and its principal officers.
2. Type of event and the time of day the event is to be held.
3. The area of the Lagoon to be used and the method of policing.
4. The association rules the event is to be operated under.
5. Landing to be used.
6. Outline the clean-up responsibilities.
7. Fee of $100.00 to be deposited with the City Treasurer to assure adequate
clean-up, and to be refunded upon the approval of the Public Works Director.
8. Application is to be made to the City Council ninety (90) days prior to the
event requested.
MASTER PLAN OF PARKS: The recommendations of the Parks and Recreation
Commission, toilie~Planmng Commission on the Master Plan of Parks was dis-cussed item by item, and motion was made by Comm. Dunn?/: and seconded by
Comm, Merkle that the Harbor Commission approve the re/jommendations as
outlined in the memorandum of the Parks and Recreation Commission to the
Planning Commission. Motion carried by a unanimous vote of the Commissioners
present.
HA RBOR LEGI5LATION; Upon motion by Comm. Dunne and seconded by Comm.
Teffers it was recommended that the City Council be urged to write or contact
the Governor regarding the urgency of his signature on ihe various bills regard-
ing Harbor Legislation.
Meeting was adjourned at 9:10 P.M.
