Meeting called to order by Chairperson Densham at
4:OO P.M.
Present: Chairperson Densham, Members, McCoy,

CONTINUED ITEM
1. 16th Year Cornunity Development Block Grant Program.
Housing and Redevelopment Advisory Committee
recommended the following services and
projects for funding with 16th Year Community Development Block Grant funds:
- North County Lifeline, Inc. - $7,300.
This shelter, located in Vista, would provide
shelter during inclement weather for
Carlsbad’s homeless.
- Ecumenical Service Center/Good Samaritan
House - $10.224.
This center,located in Oceanside, provides
shelter for single men in the North County.
- Western Institute Foundation for Mental Health - $12,180.
Located in North County, funding to this
provider would cover costs of assisting
elderly low income citizens of Carlsbad who have Alzheimer’s Disease.
- Casa de Amparo - $15.000.
Located in Oceanside, this facility provides
shelter and care for Carlsbad’s abused and
molested children.
- Disabled Network Center - $1.500.
This center, located in Oceanside, provides
training in independent living to Carlsbad’s
disabled citizens (deaf, blind, and mobility i mpai red 1.
- BOYS a, Girls Club - $30.000.
Funding this project provides for the
installation of fire sprinkler system in the
facility located at 3101 Tyler Street,
Carlsbad.
- Sidewalk to Oceanside Border - $53.000. Funding provides for the development of
sidewalks from the southern border of
Oceanside to Carlsbad Maxton Brown Park along the Buena Vista Lagoon.

16th Year CDBG Project Recommendations continued:
- San Dieso Service Center for Blind - $40.000.
This center, specializing in rehabilitation
of the blind, is located in Vista. It serves
the north county providing transportation and education to help blind citizens live
independent and productive lives.
- North County Housing - $77,304.
Partial funding to assist in development of a
six unit affordable housing project with Head
Start Center below. In addition, Committee
recommends that the City Council waive
development fees, also recommends that
additional funding be allocated in the 17th
and 18th Year Community Development Block
Grant Funding to this project in the amounts
of $77,304 for each year. This project is
proposed to be built on the southwest corner
of Pine and Roosevelt Streets.
The Committee recommended that any additional
funds received for 16th Year Year projects should
be allocated to Good Samaritan up to $14,000,
then distributed equally among projects based on
same percent as has been recommended.
