Presentation and Discussion - Denise Vedder
Denise Vedder, Communications Manager, gave an overview of her evolving role
regarding communicating with citizens relating to the media, newsletters, and
outreach programs and how all communication is in line with the City Council's
goals and vision.
City Connection is a program where Council and staff are out in the community
to find out what is important to citizens. Staff follows problems in the
neighborhoods and the community and gets citizens involved in the solving of
those problems.
Ms. Vedder informed the Commission that the recent citizens' survey showed
that trust and confidence were rated high for City government in general.
Ms. Vedder stated that the City is looking at future trends and specifically looking
at technology for expanding connections to the citizens in the future. There will
be streaming video of Council meetings soon.
She told the Commission that February is the month when Council sets their
priorities.
Commissioner Juncal stated that the coming changes would bring opportunities
for artists and more culture. He suggested that there could be interviews with the
Sculpture Garden artists and public art pieces could be considered in Carlsbad.
