5. COMMITTEE MEMBER COMMENTS:
>• Member Hall has a meeting with David Bradstreet, Community Services
Director to discuss a proposed sponsor program to raise revenues for
park facilities.
* Staff member Jantz informed the Committee that the State has approved
$1.335 million for the Sea Wall project. Staff is currently coordinating
with the Army Corps to secure an $2 million through their Section 103
program. Construction is projected to begin in September 1996.
>• Staff member Jantz informed the Committee that the City of Oceanside
is
proposing to form a Beach Erosion Committee. It was suggested that
the Carlsbad Committee provide assistance to and monitor the efforts of
the Oceanside Committee.
> Ann Kulchin forwarded the Committee an article about Beach
Nourishment and Protection from the January Shore and Beach
Magazine.
> Member Jackson distributed copies of a North County Times article,
dated February, 9, 1996 about Federal funds approved for beach
restoration.
6. PUBLIC COMMENT: Bob Norvett, an Oceanside resident of San Malo, is
interested jn the BEC and the Opportunistic Sand Program as they benefit
Oceanside beaches and residents.
ADJOURNMENT
By proper motion, the meeting was adjourned at 5:10 p.m. The next meeting of the
Beach Erosion Committee is scheduled for Tuesday, March 12, 1996, at 4:00 p.m. at
the Housing and Redevelopment office.
