CALL TO ORDER:
ROLL CALL:
Present: Member Bartlett, Hall, Howes, King, Prohaska, Howes, and Meyer
Absent: Members Macklin
Guests: Ray Duncan and Don Jackson
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes for the January 11, 2000 meeting were approved 6-0
1. COMMITTEE 2000 GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: Staff member Steve Jantz provided a copy
of the Committees 1998 Goals and Objectives for consideration and updates. After
considerable discussion, the Committee suggested changes to their 1998 Goals to include
an objective to research and evaluate sand retention facilities and their potential benefits to
the Carlsbad coastline. Staff member Jantz will draft the Committee's 2000 Goals and
Objectives statement and attach to the agenda for the March meeting for adoption.
2. OLD BUSINESS:
May Street Faire - The Chair indicated that he would contact members of the Committee to
gain volunteers to man a booth at the May Street Faire. Staff member Jantz will contact
SANDAG to borrow handouts and display boards for the Regional Beach Sand Project.
3. NEW BUSINESS:
CSBPA Membership - Staff member Jantz will send membership request and dues for
Committee membership in CSBPA.
4. COMMITTEE MEMBER COMMENTS: None
5. PUBLIC COMMENT: None
By proper motion, the meeting was adjourned at 5:30p.m. The next meeting of the Beach
Erosion Committee will be Tuesday, March 14, 2000 at the Housing and Redevelopment
Conference Room.
