1. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES; The Committee considered the summary report of their 2001 Goals
and Objectives workshop. However, due to lack of a full Committee, the Committee referred this
item for discussion at a future meeting.
2. Agua Hedionda Lagoon Dredging; Staff member Jantz provided a brief update and status of the
dredging of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon. Staff indicated that the City has given approval for the
disposal of the dredge material based on the Beach Erosion Committee recommendations. The
power plant indicated that they would be receiving approval from the Coastal Commission at their
next meeting. The dredging operation should begin in mid November and should be completed
during March of 2001.
The power plant has also submitted an application for their next Special Use Permit with the City's
Planning Department. This application is requesting a long-term permit (10 years) and is suggesting
an alternative proposal for quantity deposition different from the report required by the Coastal
Commission. Staff will be reviewing their application and will be bringing a recommendation for
sand deposition to the BEC for their review and consideration. It is planned that this item will be
ready for the December agenda.

By proper motion, the meeting was adjourned at 5:00 p..m. The next meeting of the Beach Erosion
Committee will be Tuesday, November 14, 2000 at the City of Carlsbad Faraday Administration
Building.
