MEETING OF: CARLSBAD TOURISM BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT
DISTRICT BOARD (Regular Meeting)
DATE OF MEETING: July 8, 2010
TIME OF MEETING: 2:00 p.m.
PLACE OF MEETING: Planning Conference Room, Faraday Administrative Center,
1635 Faraday Avenue
CALL TO ORDER: Vice Chair Canepa called the Meeting to order at 2:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL was taken by the Deputy Clerk, as follows:
Present: Canepa, Nayudu, Howard-Jones and Becerra.
Absent: Stripe and McCormick.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Commissioner Nayudu requested that the May Minutes be amended, under Section
VI, 7*"^ paragraph, changing the word "concede" to exceed.
On a motion by Board Member Nayudu, the Board unanimously approved the
Minutes of the meeting held May 18, 2010 as amended .
IV. STAFF REPORT
Cheryl Gerhardt gave the year-end financial update (on file in the office ofthe City Clerk).
Ms. Gerhardt informed the Board that City Council approved the CTBID annual report at
its June 22, 2010 meeting.
v. AB 07-10-58 CTBID GRANT FUNDING RECOMMENDATIONS
Sam Ross, Executive Director of VisitCarisbad, provided an overview ofthe grant
applications/applicants and stated that based on the CTBID grant guidelines, the
VisitCarisbad Board was recommending the CTBID Board award grants to the following:
$6,000 to In Motion Events for the 2011 Carisbad Marathon (to be held in January 2011)
$4,000 to ArtSplash for ArtSplash 2010 (to be held September 25-26, 2010)
$10,000 to the Mercury Insurance Open for the 2010 Women's Tennis Association
Tournament at La Costa Resort and Spa (to be held July 31 through August 8, 2010)
In response to an inquiry from Vice Chair Canepa, Mr. Ross stated that the DMO will coordinate
and establish a closer working relationship with ArtSplash to generate more publicity for the
event.

The Board scheduled its next meeting for October 6, 2010 at 2:00 p.m.
By proper motion, the CTBID Board Meeting of July 8, 2010 adjourned at 2:22 p.m.
