Briefly discussed; discussion to be resumed i ;after reading of the following two letters on saqe subject; i i 3. Letter from County Board of Supervisore re: propose4 !road to Palmar Airport, referring to their letter of June ; :15th in the same connection (also read) and emphasizing the i iAugast 18th deadline for Carfsbad's decision on financial ; ;participaticn. I 4. Letter from the Chamber of Commerce strongly urging! !the Co:lr.cil to negotiate aggressively with the Board of ; :Supervisors for construction of the northerly route to !Palomar Airport. Albert Came and Hal Bierce, Chamber :directors, presented a map drawn by the County Engineer's I !office showing the southern route to be slightly longer, ; :over rougher terrain -- and therefore costlier to the tax- I :payers of the County -- and urged that the proper City I I :officials appear before the Supervisors, armed with facts i {and figures to make a strong showing that the northern t 1 :route is more practical and less expensive to the individuaj !taxpayer, It was suggested that, if necessary, for bar- ; :gaining purposes:, an amount of $5000 or less could be offerf ied.
