Chi, I I McPherson opened the nominations and placed the oar^ i of Jane C, Sonneman for Mayor. Cmn, Guevara seconded the motion, Cmn. La AOche moved that the i nominations be closed. Cmn. Guevara seconded the ; motion. The vote for Jane C, Sonneman as Mayor was i answered by four ayes, Cmn. Bierce voting no. The : Clerk announced that Jane C. Someman was elected i Mayor of the City of Carlsbad, and the new Mayor accepted the chair from the City Clerk.

the Department bf Public Health, State of California, i stating that the existefice of rabies in San Diego County ; has been determined to constitute a public health hazardi and that on March 30, 1960 the Director of the Cali- 1 I fornia State Department of Public Health declared San i Diego County to be a rabies area. They requested that : each focal governing body within San Diego County in- 3 form their office, through the local health officer, on : or before May 11 , 1960, as to the action each is plan- I ning. The City Manager advised the Council that it is : his intention to contact Dr. Askew to see what the Count$ proposes to do in regard to setting up a policy, and he : would meet with one of the staff member8 of the County I Health Department in San Diego to determine what procedures should be followed in Carlsbad.

The City i Manager presented a letter from the Chairman of the : Little League Baseball, requesting the City to maintain i the fields at the Jefferson Street School and the Pine : Street School, It would require the fields being marked: each game and the fields being dragged two or three t times during the season, 1 I
