In bis opinion it I i would be incompatible to allow a horse to be stabled in ; :!{I i Carlsbad, but not allow the animal off the property. I :;;:

:'I4 i Mayor La iloche stated this proposed ord.5.narme was not i $t ;:ii
i posed as a protection to riders and the horses. Our ! IS I;!! ; herifage did not call for 20th century automobiles going i ii:: i down the street. He has a great deal of sympathy for ; :I::, : horse owners.
: JOHN GRANT, 2924 Nighland Drive, stated he and Mrs. i ;:I$ i Grant went up and down many streets in Carlsbad today. i : Buena Vista Ave. is a very good example due to the land-: i scaping which makes the street very narrow. We have 1 : owned a horse quite a few years in Carlsbad. The horse : i is usually ridden in the Eucalyptus Grove, however, the i i streets are used to get to the grove. It was Mr. Grant's : ; feeling the Council should consider ordinances of other { i cities. If you cannot ride the horse, what is the use of : ; owning one? 1 t ;;.;,I IS{$
i WILLLAM SHAY, 5114 Carlsbad Blvd., stated his I ::::I : daughter has a horse. He did not feel that riding a horse i i was any more dangerous than riding a bicycle. I :;;!/
i MRS. JOHN GMNT, 2924 Highland Dr., stated in her i t,ii; :; I opinion there is a danger in riding bicyles, water skiing i ::::I : and various other sports. She used to ride downtown, to ; i the theater, parades, etc. Her children would not be : ;:t;i : permitted to go to a parade unless they had ridden down- i et;': ::::: i town previously. She felt this was a good clean sport : !I;:: : and the children should not be restricted. The care of i ::I:; i the horse is certainly good trairjigg-fur any cfii@. * :!I:;
;I II
i Cncm. Bierce stated as long as we allow horses In the { I';l; : city limits, how can we restrict them from using them? ; I!;!;
: Mayor La Roche stated he did not own a horse, but was ! :::I: I merely looking at this matter from a standpoint of pre- i i venting accidents before they happen.
