The Mayor announced the Special Meeting was called for the purpose of discussing the portion o-f the 1969-70 Budget pertaining to Advertising and Publici
A moment of silence was observed in memory of Senator Dirksen. .I c 291 Mayor Dunne clarified a misunderstanding -by the Chamber of Commerce on the action taken by the City Council at the time the Budget was adopted. Due to this misunderstanding the Chamber of Commerce felt it would have to close' its doors until a decision had been reached.by the Council as to the amount to be allocated for Advertising and Publicity. The Council's decision was to reimburse the Chamber for expenditures on .the same basis approve-d for fiscal year 1968-69.
Mr. Diedel, representing the Chamber of Commerce, stated the Chamber was not going to close its doors, but they were going to withhold any civic activities until funds had been allocated.
As the members of the City Council had ,reviewed-the Audit Report and proposed expenditures submitted by the Chamber of Commerce, it was agreed that the total amount to be set aside for Advertising and Publicity for fiscal year 1969-70 be set at the maximum amount of $21,285.00, which maximum amount, set by State Code is.5Q per $100.00 assessed valua- tion.
By proper motion the meeting was adjourned at 5:05 P.M.
