The staff presentation by the City Manager on the Preliminary 1976-77 Budget was resumed from the Special Meeting (See Minutes of City Council Special Meeting, May 27, 1976, 5:OO P.M.). The following individual budgets were reviewed and discussion held thereon: Parks, Recreation and Library.
City Attorney Additional Business.
The City Attorney stated he had received two communications from the League of California Cities, and informed the Council of their contents as follows:
a) The Legal Advocacy Committee recommends that cities participate (at no cost) in two court cases for which petitions for hearing are pending. The City Attorney gave details of each case, after which the following action was taken:
The City Attorney was authorized to indicate the Motion X City of Carlsbad's participation in the brief of Ayes xxx the City of Sacramento as friend of the court, in the case of the International Association of Fire Fighters vs City of Pleasanton.
The City Attorney was authorized to indicate the Motion X City of Carlsbad's participation in the Attorney Ayes xxx General's brief in two cases of inverse condem- nation claims involving the City of Palo Alto.
b) Advising that the City Attorney has been appointed to a Program Planning Committee for the 1976 Annual Conference. The Committee plans a one-day meeting on June 25, 1976 at the San Francisco Airport Hotel. The Council indicated its approval of the City Attorney's attendance at this meeting.
