MINUTES
MEETING OF: CITY COUNCIL (Special Meeting)
DATE OF MEETING: April 16, 1996

CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Lewis called the Meeting to order at 4:30 p.m.
ROLL CALL was taken by the Assistant City Clerk, as follows:
Present: Council Members Hall, Finnila, Kulchin, Mayor Pro Tem Nygaard and Mayor
Lewis.
Absent: None.
37 1. 1995 CITIZENS OF THE YEAR AWARDS.
Mayor Lewis announced that Ofelia Escobedo and Connie Trejo had been selected Carlsbad
Citizens of the Year, for their work in assisting youth in the community and providing assistance
to those who need it. They are been instrumental in getting the Barrio Redevelopment Plan
completed. Mayor Lewis presented Ms. Escobedo and Ms. Trejo with a plaque from the City.
Mayor Lewis also announced that Joan and Alan Kindle had been selected Carlsbad Citizens of
the Year for their work in the community in getting funds to restore Carrillo Ranch and presenting
education programs about the Ranch to elementary schools. Mayor Lewis presented the Kindles
with a plaque from the City.
Mayor Lewis announced that the meeting would be adjourned to the Council Offices for refreshments.
