HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-08-04; City Council; Minutes (3)e 0 MEETING OF : DATE OF MEETING: TIME OF MEETING: PLACE OF MEETING: MINUTES CITY COUNCIL (Special Meeting) August 4,1998 5:30 p.m. Council Chambers CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Lewis called the Meeting to order at 5:3 1 p.m. ROLL CALL was taken by the City Clerk, as follows: Present: Council Members Kulchin, Nygaard, Mayor Pro Tem Finnila, Mayor Lewis Absent: Council Member Hall (Hall arrived at 5:46 p.m.) PUBLIC COMMENT ON AGENDA ITEMS: None. CLOSED SESSION: City Attorney Ron Ball announced that an urgent matter had come to the attention of the City Attorney's Office following the posting of the agenda, and it is staff's recommendation to add the item to the Closed Session Agenda pursuant to the provision of the Brown Act. ACTION: On motion by Mayor Pro Tem Finnila, Council added the matter of the SDG&E Public Utilities Commission proceedings to the agenda, and that Council adjourn to Closed Session to consider the item pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2@)(2). AYES: Lewis, Finnila, Nygaard, Kulchin ABSENT: Hall Council (excluding Council Member Hall) adjourned to Closed Session at 5:32 p.m., to discuss the following: 1. PENDING LITIGATION. B - The San Diego Gas & Electric v. Citv, pending litigation, pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2@)(2). Council Member Hall arrived at 5:46 p.m., and joined Council in Closed Session to discuss the following: 2. ACOUISITION OF REAL PROPERTY. The acquisition or potential acquisition of real property located in the Carlsbad Research Center and generally identified as The Blackmore Family Trust, Aston Avenue, Carlsbad, approximately 3.59 acres, APN 212-120-1 0-00; and CAC Associates LLC, Faraday Avenue, Carlsbad, approximately 7.24 acres, APN 2 12-130-3 1-001 and BTINV LLC, Aston Avenue, Carlsbad, approximately 8.70 acres, APN 212-120- 07-00, pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.8. Council reconvened at 6:04 p.m. with all Council Members present. Mayor Lewis announced that Council had heard the information, and instructed staff and the Attorney regarding the items.
