MEETING OF : gfh Citizens’ Academy Graduation (Special
Meeting)

PLACE OF MEETING: City Council Chambers
The Graduation of the 8‘h Class of the Citizens’ Academy began at 500 p.m. with a
dinner.
The meeting was held in the City Council Chambers, 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive.
Mayor Lewis and Council Members Kulchin, Hall, and Packard arrived prior to 530 p.m.
PUBLIC COMMENT ON AGENDA ITEMS: None
Assistant City Manager, Frank Mannen, introduced the Mayor and Council Members
and welcomed the students to the final Academy session. Mr. Mannen outlined the
agenda for the evening and introduced City staff.
Mayor Lewis and Council Members Kulchin, Hall, and Packard participated in the City
Council Q8A and Panel Discussion. (Council Member Kulchin left the meeting at 5:45
p.m., to attend a forum.)
Recess:
The panel discussion was concluded at 6:20 p.m., and a break was taken.
The session resumed at 6:30 p.m., with the City Council role play activity. The role play
concluded at 7:lO p.m., and another break was taken.
The session resumed at 7:15 p.m. Assistant City Clerk Karen Kundtz spoke regarding
opportunities for appointment to City Boards and Commissions.
Assistant City Manager Frank Mannen and City Council Secretary Marilyn Strong
participated in the graduation ceremony, followed by comments from Citizens’ Academy
Volunteer Mike O’Connell.
City Council Secretary Marilyn Strong presented the conclusion and program
evaluation.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Special Meeting of October 21, 2004, was adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
