HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006-03-07; City Council; MinutesMINUTES MEETING OF: CITY COUNCIL (Special Meeting) DATE OF MEETING: March 7, 2006 TIME OF MEETING: 4:30 p.m. PLACE OF MEETING: _ City Council Chambers _ CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Lewis called the Meeting to order at 4:33 p.m. ROLL CALL was taken by the Deputy City Clerk, as follows: Present: Lewis, Hall, Kulchin, Packard, Sigafoose Absent: None. CLOSED SESSION: Council adjourned into Closed Session at 4:33 p.m. pursuant to the following: 1. GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 54956.9(c). To consider holding a closed session pursuant to Government Code Section 54956. 9(c), to discuss existing facts and circumstances regarding possible litigation against the Children's Discovery Museum of North County. 2. GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 54956.9(b)M). To consider holding a dosed session pursuant to Government Code Section 54956. 9(b)(1), to discuss anticipated litigation concerning the Adelphia Cable Franchise Fee settlement of disputed audit. Mayor Pro Tem Hall recused himself from participating in the discussion regarding item #3 due to a potential conflict of interest. 3. GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION S4956.9(a). To consider holding a closed session pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9(a), to discuss pending litigation, Join Hands Save A Life v. City of Carlsbad, etal.. Case No. GIN036823. Mayor Pro Tem Hall returned to the meeting for consideration of Item #4. 4. GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 54956.8. To consider holding a closed session to discuss the lease of real property and instruct the City's negotiators (Community Development Director Sandra Holder and Economic Development Manager Cynthia Haas) regarding both price and terms of lease, pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.8, for real property generally located and generally identified as: Property Owner: City of Carlsbad Location: 581 5 El Camino Real Prospective Tenant: New Village Arts Negotiator: Pat Hurley, President New Village Arts The Council reconvened at 5:49 p.m. with five members present. Mayor Lewis announced that the Council heard the information and instructed staff and the attorney regarding the item.
