HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011-04-26; City Council; Minutes (2)MINUTES MEETING OF: CARLSBAD CITY COUNCIL (Special Meeting) DATE OF MEETING: April 26, 2011 TIME OF MEETING: 2:00 p.m. PLACE OF MEETING: Planning Library, Faraday Administration Building, 1635 Faraday Avenue, Carlsbad CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Hall called the Meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. ROLL CALL was taken by the City Attorney, as follows: Present: Council Members Hall, Kulchin, Blackburn, Douglas and Packard. Absent: None. CLOSED SESSION: Council adjourned into Closed Session at 2:00 p.m. pursuant to the following: 1. GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 54956.9(c). To hold a closed session to consider initiating litigation as follows: Based on existing facts and circumstances to discuss consideration of initiating litigation against Online Travel Companies (OTC's), Expedia Group, Travelocity Group, Orbitz Group and Priceline Group. 2. GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 54956.9(a) To hold a closed session to discuss pending litigation as follows: Shapiro v. City I Case No. 37-2010-00060267-CU-CR-NC 3. GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 54957.6. Conference with Labor Negotiators. The City Council authorize a closed session discuss employer-employee relations, salaries, salary schedules and compensation in the form of fringe benefits of its employees represented by CCEA and CFA with designated staff as labor negotiators (Cynthia Haas, Deputy City Manager, Julie Clark, Human Resources Director, Chuck McBride, Finance Director, Cherri Abbot, Human Resources Manager, Debbie Porter, Senior Management Analyst, Rebecca Melillo, Management Analyst, Cheryl Gerhardt, Human Resources Department). If circumstances necessitate the absence of a specified designated representative, an agent or designee may participate in place of the absent representative so long as the name of the agent or designee is announced at an open session held prior to the closed session. Mayor Hall announced that Council directed the City Attorney and staff on the matters.
