MEETING OF : City of Carlsbad Spring 2012 Citizens' Academy
Graduation
(Special Meeting)
DATE OF MEETING: April 26, 2012

PLACE OF MEETING: City Council Chambers, 1200 Carlsbad Village
Drive, Carlsbad, CA
PRESENT:
Mayor Hall, Mayor Pro Tem Kulchin, Council Members Blackburn, Douglas and Packard.
PUBLIC COMMENT ON AGENDA ITEMS: None.
City Manager Lisa Hildabrand welcomed the students to the Spring Citizens' Academy
Graduation Ceremony and thanked them for their participation.
A City Council Question and Answer Discussion Panel was held and citizens' questions were
answered by Council members.
Council members presented Citizens' Academy Completion Certificates to graduates.
Council members excused themselves from the meeting at 6:05 p.m.
Local School District staff gave a presentation on the current financial situation of schools in
Carlsbad and promoted "I heart Carlsbad schools" week, April 28 to May 6, 2012.
A recess was declared at 6:50 p.m. The Academy reconvened at 7:00 p.m.
Volunteer Coordinator Sue Irey gave a brief presentation on volunteer opportunities within the
City.
Academy attendees participated in a City Council Role Play activity.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Special Meeting of April 26, 2012 was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
