MEETING OF: CARLSBAD CITY COUNCIL (Special Meeting)
DATE OF MEETING: June 12, 2012
TIME OF MEETING: Immediately following the adjournment of the
Regular Meeting
PLACE OF MEETING: Planning Library, 1635 Faraday Avenue, Carlsbad,
California
CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Hall called the meeting to order at 6:50 p.m.
ROLL CALL was taken by the Deputy City Clerk, as follows:
Present: Council Members Hall, Kulchin, Blackburn, Douglas and Packard.
Absent: None.
PUBLIC COMMENT ON AGENDA ITEM: None.
CLOSED SESSION:
Council adjourned into Closed Session at 6:52 p.m. pursuant to the following:
1. GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 54957.6. To hold a closed session to discuss
employer-employee relations, salaries, salary schedules and compensation in the
form of fringe benefits of its employees represented by CCEA with designated staff
as labor negotiators (Cynthia Haas, Deputy City Manager, Julie Clark, Human
Resources Director, and Cheri Abbot, Human Resources Manager). If
circumstances necessitate the absence of a specified designated representative, an
agent or designee may participate in place of the absent representative so long as
the name of the agent or designee is announced at an open session held prior to the
closed session.
2. GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 54956.9(b). To hold a closed session to discuss
significant exposure to litigation by the CCEA.
RECONVENE:
The Council reconvened at 8:17 p.m. with all members present. Mayor Hall announced that the
Council heard and considered the information and directed the City Attorney and staff in what it
believes to be in the best interests of the citizens of Carlsbad. No final action was taken and it
will be reported out at a future meeting when final action is taken.
ADJOURNMENT:
By proper motion, the Special Meeting of June 12, 2012, was adjourned at 8:18 p.m.
