MEETING OF: CITY OF CARLSBAD CITY COUNCIL AND
MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT BOARD
(Joint Special Meeting)
DATE OF MEETING: May 21, 2013
TIME OF MEETING: 8:30 a.m.
PLACE OF MEETING: Planning Ubrary, 1635 Faraday Avenue, Carlsbad, California
CALL TO ORDER: Mayor/President Hall called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
ROLL CALL was taken by the Senior Deputy Clerk/Senior Deputy Secretary, as follows:
Present: Council/Board Members Hall, Packard, Wood, Blackburn and Douglas.
Absent: None.
PUBUC COMMENT ON AGENDA ITEM: None.
CLOSED SESSION: Council/Board adjourned into Closed Session at 8:32 a.m. pursuant to the
following:
1. GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 54956.9(a). To hold a closed session to discuss pending litigation
as follows:
Citv of Carlsbad and CMWD v. Pacific Indemnitv Companv. 21'^ Centurv Preferred
Insurance Co.. Jefferson Insurance Co.. Stonewall Insurance Co.. The Dominion of
Canada General Insurance Co.. First State Insurance Co.. Twin Citv Fire Insurance Co..
Specialty National Insurance Co.. and Great Lakes Reinsurance (UK) Case No. 37-2011-
00092451-CU-IC-CTL
RECONVENE:
The Council/Board reconvened at 8:50 a.m. with five members present. Mayor/President Hall
announced that Council/Board met in closed session at 8:30 a.m. to discuss one item. The
Council/Board deliberated on what is in the best interests ofthe City and its citizens but took
no final action. Final action, when taken, will be reported out at a subsequent meeting.
ADJOURNMENT:
By proper motion, the Joint Special Meeting of May 21, 2013 was adjourned at 8:52 a.m.
