CITY COUNCIL ROLL CALL: M. Hall, K. Blackburn, M. Schumacher, C. Schumacher, M. Packard.
PLANNING COMMISSION ROLL CALL: V. Anderson, N. Black, P. Goyarts, K. Siekmann, M.
Montgomery, J. Segall. Commissioner L. Rodman arrived at 3:03 p.m.
DEPARTMENTAL AND CITY MANAGER REPORT:
1. REPORT ON 2017 HOUSING RELATED LEGISLATION.
Council Members and the Planning Commission will receive a report from staff and legal
counsel regarding the 2017 housing related legislation.
City Manager's Recommendation: Receive the report.
Interim Community and Economic Development Director Debbie Fountain and Attorney
Barbara Kautz of Goldfarb and Lipman provided an overview of the report and reviewed
a PowerPoint presentation (on file in the Office of the City Clerk).
Tl Childs encouraged the Council/Commission to allow accessory dwelling units to be up
to 1200 square feet as the state law allows. She expressed concerns relating to Carlsbad's
stricter standard of 640 square feet.
ACTION: The Council and Commission received the presentation.
