HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972-11-10; Community Television Foundation; MinutesMINUTES OF CABLE TV MEETING DATE: Friday, November 10, 1972 TIME: 3:00 p.m. PLACE: City Manager's Conference Room PRESENT: Chairman Jerome Pieti, Georgina Cole, Dr. Howard Harmon, Hunter Cook and James King. DISCUSSION Section 4. Franchise Payments a. Fee for operation is based on percentage of the following: Gross Annual Basic Subscriber Receipts, Gross Annual Non-Basic Service Receipts, Gross Annual Advertising Receipts and Gross Annual Lease Receipts. These percentages can be adopted by Resolution. b. Percentage payments to be made as directed in franchise or resolution fixing franchise fee and adopting rules for service and rate regulation. This provides safeguards to the City. Section 5. a. b. refusal or limitation Franchise Term: duration and termination Term of 15 years is suggested. City may terminate franchise in event of willful failure, neglect to do or comply with material requirements or contained in ordinance. Hunter Cook suggested Chairman Pieti invite Program Managers from several cities that have Cable TV in order that the committee might question them about problems encountered and possible pitfalls to avoid. Mrs. Cole thought Mr. Guttman might be available to answer questions pertaining to Cable TV in Inglewood. The Committee tentatively accepted Sections 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the League's Model Ordinance. Next meeting: Application for Franchise and Bonds, Indemnifications and Insurance. Meeting adjourned 3:55 p.m.
