Members Present: Bill Dominguez Bob Sheppard Sharon Strong Bill Levinson John Mamaux City Staff: Roger Greer Alternates: Nancy Little John Brinker Bob Lucas - Mr. Brinker made a motion to approve the minutes of the May 3, 1984 meeting as submitted. Mr. Levinson seconded the motion. The vote was: 2 ayes - 3 Abstentions. The motion carried. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS None OLD BUSINESS It was requested that at the end of each quarter, city staff provide the Foundation with the balance in its account currently held by the City of Carlsbad in a special account. $25,873.22. Bob Lucas gave the Foundation an update on the status of the following applications: As of April 30, 1984 the balance was Thomas Reeser is applying to other sources for funding on the balance of his requested amount. Samuel Tracer's newest program is taped and is being edited for cablecasting. Steven Cilurzo will have a tape to the Foundatian soon. William Levinson told the Foundation that his program, $mart Money, has been aborted for various reasons. John Brinker reported that Carlsbad Cablevision will pay the attorney billing received by the City of Carlsbad regarding the Foundation's tax-exempt status. - Minutes, CATV Foundation Meeting of 6/7/84 Page 2 There was some confusion and incomplete information regarding this status and Jim Elliott, City Finance Director, had to contact the attorney who originally set up the Foundation's tax-exempt status. NEW BUSINESS The Foundation reviewed the application received from Victor Larious for a proposed program entitled, Panorama con Victor larios". After some discussion, a motion was made by John Brinker and seconded by John Mamaux to notify Mr. Larios that he should do an outline for scripting and give the Foundation more specific information and resubmit his application. carried with a unanimous vote. I1 The motion Roger Greer was asked to write a letter to Mr. Larios and explain the Foundation's decision. Roger Greer reported that Ken Kebow had contacted his office and invited the Foundation members to a showing of his video, "Carlsbad Library - An Open Book," in the Carlsbad library on Tuesday, June 12, 1984 at 4:OO PM and again at 5:OO PM. It is approximately a half hour program. John Brinker asked about the possibility of having T-shirts silk-screened with the Foundation's logo for the interns who go out to shoot videos for the Foundation's programs. Mr. Brinker to look into places and prices and to give a short report for approval at the next meeting.
