Mr. Lucas gave a brief report on the National Convention that he attended
in Denver during the month of July.
He reported that a common national problem was the lack of public informa-

that perhaps the foundation could concentrate more effort on the problem
or public awareness.
President Dominguez asked the group its feelings regarding the appoint-
ment of a committee to draft some proposals for increasing public aware-
ness and, in particular, businesses and special interest groups like the
League of Women Voters. General consensus of the members present was to
appoint such a committee.

It has come to my attention that the tax returns for the Foundation for Community Cable Television have not been filed for calendar year 1983. officer who is responsible for future filing of this type report. Also, the Foundation does not appear to have a financial
Although the City staff would be happy to assist the Foundation
wherever possible, it is my opinion, the Foundation should seek the
assistance of a qualified CPA who can provide appropriate tax
information and services. If the Board would like recommendations
of qualified CPAs, the City can provide a list of possible candidates.
In the meantime, I request that the Board approve the use of a CPA to prepare tax reports to the IRS and State Franchise Tax Board for
1983. If the Board does not wish to select an accountant at this time,
the City can select a CPA from those who have provided service to us
in the past.
