HomeMy WebLinkAbout1984-08-02; Community Television Foundation; MinutesFOUNDATION FOR CARLSBAD COMMUNITY CABLE TELEVISION 1200 ELM AVENUE CARLSBAD, CA 92008 - 1989 MINUTES OF MEETING OF AUGUST 2, 1984 The meeting was called to order by President Dominguez at 5:45 PM. Members Present: Bill Dominguez Bob Sheppard Sharon Strong John Brinker Nancy Little City Staff: Roger Greer Program Coordinator: Bob Lucas Mr. Lucas gave a brief report on the National Convention that he attended in Denver during the month of July. He reported that a common national problem was the lack of public informa- tion regarding access channels and what their function is. He suggested that perhaps the foundation could concentrate more effort on the problem or public awareness. President Dominguez asked the group its feelings regarding the appoint- ment of a committee to draft some proposals for increasing public aware- ness and, in particular, businesses and special interest groups like the League of Women Voters. General consensus of the members present was to appoint such a committee. Nancy Little to draft some ideas and bring them back to the next meeting for discussion. Mr. Dominguez will meet with Roger Greer and It was also suggested that perhaps the Foundation would want to hire a part-time public relations person to make some direct contacts with some possible sources of programming and funding. Mr. jim elliott, Finance Director for the City of Carlsbad, sent a letter to the Foundation suggesting that it consider hiring a CPA firm to handle all of its tax forms and other financial matters. that is should look into this matter and Roger Greer will be writing letters to several local firms to get quotes for the next meeting so that a decision can be made. The Foundation agreed One grant application, submitted by Ms. Terri Lopez, was reviewed. It is entitled, "The Class Reunion". After some discussion, Bob Sheppard made a motion that the grant be awarded for the full amount of $687.00. Strong seconded the motion which carried with a unanimous vote. In the meantime, I request that the Board approve the use of a CPA to prepare tax reports to the IRS and State Franchise Tax Board for 1983.
