HomeMy WebLinkAbout1986-06-12; Community Television Foundation; MinutesFOUNDATION FOR CARLSBAD COMMUNITY CABLE TELEVISION 1200 ELM AVENUE CARLSBAD, CA 92008 - 1989 Minutes of Regular Meeting June 12, 1986 The meeting was called to order at 8 AM by President Bob Sheppard. The following were present: Foundation Members: Bob Sheppard, Bill Dominguez, Tom Belcher, Bob Lucas (alternate) City Staff: Roger Greer Mr. Dominguez moved that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved as submitted. The motion was seconded and carried. Financial Report: The financial report was accepted by the members. Old Business: Tv Pursuits - Mr. Lucas discussed the possibility of sending reminders to those people who pledged thanking them for their support and asking for them to send in their money. donation he/she would be eligible for one of the gifts which will be on an attached list. asking if they would like to increase their amount to be eligible for one of the gifts. After some discussion, it was decided that Mr. Greer will send out these letters. The letter will also state that if he/she wishes to increase the A similar letter would go to the people who have already paid Mr. Sheppard asked that the Foundation consider some remuneration for the make-up people who came from Palomar College and did the make-up for all of the people who were on the air during TV Pursuits. Mr. Dominguez moved that the Foundation pay the make-up people the same amount as is being paid the interns who worked for Bob Lucas during TV Pursuits. The motion was seconded and carried. Mr. Greer reported that he had received a letter from Thomas Reeser requesting to paid for his production. Mr. Reeser stated in the letter that he had already sent a request for payment several weeks previously and had not yet heard from us. The request he referred to did not specifically ask that he be paid. It was a report on his production and was similar to the report he provided for his last video. Mr. Greer responded to his request and told Mr. Reeser that the Foundation would pay him only the amount that was granted. If he wished to be paid for any cost overrun, he would have to submit an application to cover that amount. CATV Foundation Minutes 6/ 12/86 Page 2 After some discussion, a motion was made to include a cost over-run statement in the approval letter and let applicants know that they will have to resubmit the application to cover the additional costs, The motion was seconded and carried. New Business: Grant Applications: Michael Sarain - Wavelength TV Show A letter will be sent to Mr. Sarain letting him know that his application was not within the deadline and will have to be carried over to the next meeting. John Quartarone, Carlsbad Youth Theatre - Wizard of Oz After a brief discussion, Mr. Dominguez moved that this application be approved in-the full amount requested of $873.00. The motion was seconded and carried. Mr. Greer will write and let Mr. Quartarone know of the Foundation's decision. Sara Drapkin - Traithlon After some discussion regarding the amount of time, equipment and personnel required to film this event, Mr. Dominguez moved that this application be denied on the grounds that we cannot handle such an ambitious project. The motion was seconded and carried, Mr. Greer will write to Ms. Drapkin and explain the Foundation's decision. Ms. Draplin will also be informed that there are other video companies in the area that can handle this project and let her know that she can resubmit with that in mind. NFLCP Conference is July 5 through July 12. attend and the Foundation has been asked to pay the registration fees of $400.
