ORDINANCE REVISIONS: The most recent draft received from the City Attorney's office was distributed and discussed. By proper motion (Diaz /Smith) the Commissioners unanimously approved the suggestions from the City Attorney's office. Deputy Library Director Smithson distributed the most recent list of possible historical locations within the City of Carlsbad compiled from a variety of documents in the City's Document Management System and files in the Local History Room of the Georgian Cole Library. The Commissioners discussed which of these properties would constitute an historical site inventory and agreed that only those properties so designated by Council Resolution should be included. By proper motion (Diaz/Wachter) and vote, the Commissioners agreed to the content for the inventory as only Council designated properties. HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION Minutes of March 12, 2012 THIRD GRADE ART CONTEST: Page2 Deputy Library Director Smithson advised that the letters and packets for the third grade classes were mailed last month to all third grade classes in schools serving Carlsbad students, which included both the San Marcos and Encinitas school districts as well as local parochial schools. She also confirmed with the Commissioners the June 5 date for awards at the Council Meeting and the sequence of events. CARLSBAD HISTORICAL SOCIETY UPDATES: Commissioner Levy reported that the historical presentations the Society has been hosting at Carlsbad by the Sea have been very successful. He personally presented the program on the California state history and the next two months in the series will deal with local history for the cities of Oceanside and Carlsbad.
