HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010-09-28; Housing & Redevelopment Commission; Minutes (2)MINUTES SPECIAL MEETING OF: CITY OF CARLSBAD HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION DATE OF MEETING: September 28, 2010 TIME OF MEETING: 6:00 p.m. PLACE OF MEETING: City Council Chambers CALL TO ORDER: Chair Lewis called the Meeting to order at 6:37 p.m. ROLL CALL was taken by the City Clerk as follows: Present: Commission Members Lewis, Hall, Packard and Blackburn. Absent: Vice Chair Kulchin. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: On a motion by Commission Member Hall, the Minutes of the following meeting were approved as presented: Minutes of the Joint Special Meeting held June 29, 2010. Minutes of the Special Meeting held July 13, 2010. Minutes of the Special Meeting held September 14, 2010. PUBLIC HEARING: 14. AB #425 - SPRINGHILL SUITES. Assistant Planner Austin Silva reviewed a PowerPoint Presentation (on file in the Office of the City Clerk). Chair Lewis opened the duly noticed Public Hearing at 6:41 p.m. Paul Klukas of Planning Systems, representing the applicant, came forward to address the Commission. Mr. Klukas urged the Commission to approve the extension of the permits. Seeing no one else wishing to speak, Chair Lewis closed the Public Hearing at 6:43 p.m. ACTION: On a motion by Commission Member Hall, the Commission adopted RESOLUTION NO. 491. approving a two-year extension of Redevelopment Permit RP 05-03 to demolish a hotel, restaurant and single family residence and for the construction of a three- story, 104-room hotel project on property generally located on the east side of Carlsbad Boulevard between Pine Avenue and Oak Avenue in the Mello II segment of the Local Coastal Program and in Local Facilities Management Zone 1; and, September 13, 2010 City of Carlsbad Housing and Redevelopment Commission Meeting Page 2 AYES: NOES: ABSENT: The Commission adopted RESOLUTION NO. 492. approving a two-year extension of Coastal Development Permit CDP 05-14 to demolish a hotel, restaurant and single family residence and for the construction of a three-story, 104-room hotel project on property generally located on the east side of Carlsbad Boulevard between Pine Avenue and Oak Avenue in the Mello II segment of the Local Coastal Program and in Local Facilities Management Zone 1.
