The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved* To be included in the minutes of this meeting was a brief report on the City Council meeting of May 19th when the budget of the City of Carlsbad was presented to the Council for their approval. A large delegation in behalf of the Library attended the Council meeting. However, when the budgets were presented to the Council, they, the Council, had apparently already discussed the matter of the Library budget and passed the budget with all of our recommendations plus the $4,000 for the building. To make the budget balance, we were asked to reduce the expenditures under Special Departmental Supplies from |500 to $584. ihis Librarian Cole agreed to do and the Library's total budget for the 1969-60 year amounted to $24,df9( see copy of total budget on following page). Commissioner Richardson thanked the Oouaoil for their move to revise the Library budget and stated the definite need for the revisions. A preliminary plan for the remodeling of the Water building for Library use was available at the Commission meeting and it was discussed. Some suggestions for changes in the plan were made and approved by the Commissioners and arrangements were made for Commissioners Frout and Strauss to meet with City \ Manager Palkowski, City Engineer Jenken, and Councilwoman Goats to discuss the plan. The proposed meeting resulted in a few more changes in the plan plus the approval of said plan. Al*0 dis- cussed at this meeting was the necessity for the City Council to give official notice to the Water Co. to vacate the premises and the official approval to the City BnffpMvr to proceed with the plans and bids for the remodeling of the building. This was done at the Council mooting of June 16th. At the Commission meeting, Librarian Cole made the announce- ment of the new hours of the Library that would start on July 1st.
