September 15, 7:30, in the Children's Library. Present were Fres*
Ann Strause, Trustees Dr. Spivey, Katherine Dunne and Librarian
Georgina Cole.
Business of the evening was the discussion of the Vaughn property
on Pio Pico to be purchased by the city for the Library site. It was
proposed that a letter be written by the President to the Coundil
advising them that the first choice of the Board of Trustees is the
Elm Street property. Also the result of the survey shows the Elm Street
property to be of first preference.
The Board was told of the Memorial Trust Fund set up by Mrs.
Miles Eost in honor of her late husband, the interest of said fund to
be used for the purchase of books* A picture sketched by Mr. RoSb of the
Torrey Pines is to be used for the book plates for the Library.
Pres. Strause suggested a letter be written to the lawyers and
ministers of the city advising them the Board of Library Trustees is
now prepared to accept donations and gifts.
Dr. Merkle moved that any building money received be deposited
in Oceanside Federal Savings and Loan. The motion was seconded by
Mrs. Dunne and passed.
A motion was made by Kay Dunne giving authority to Fres. Strause
and Librarian Cole to further study the parcels of land of the
Vaughn property accompanied by Mr. Hatch, San Diego architect. The
motion was seconded by Dr. Merkle and passed.
The meeting adjourned at 9:30.
