was called to order at 7tOO p.a. on November 12th at the Children'*
Library. Present were Trustee* Merkle, McCann, Spivey, Carr and
Kamptner, and Librarian Cole.
minutes of the last meeting were read aad approved. Mr*
Kelvin, the architect, requested a time plan for the new library
building. He will begin to work on the first schematic* the basio
floor plan, which takes in the entire site development, such as
work areas, stacks, service doors and outside parking*
lease purchase plan of financing the new library was dis-
cussed. An offer for a lease purchase has been made to Mr. Slater
for a building smaller in siae than 16,000 feet. Several other
financiers should be approached in order to deter&ine whether the
financing of this building should be by lease purchase or by bond
issue* The lease purchase plan is easier, quicker and cheaper*
Dr. Spivey gave a report of the Building Committee I
1. The building should be two-storied.
t. The building should be beautiful, not extravagantly
so, but eye-catching.
3. Above all, the building should be utilitarian if a
choice must be made between efficiency and beauty.
The meeting was adjourned at 8tl5 pan.
