The meeting was called to order at 6:U£ by Carli.
CORRESPONDENCE
The resolution adopted October 2U, 1968 by the Trustees
Division of the California Library Association trustees'
responsibilities in matters of proposed censorship of lib ary
materials was read and acknowledged in a motion made
and seconded by hill and Howard-Jones.

Use of the Multi-Purpose Room:
Librarian Cole submitted a report that indicated
the Multi-Purpose Room had been used by various
groups in the community 21 times in October
and 17 times in November.

Sprinkler System Report: Bill Hill
Trustee Bill described the current plans for the
installation of the sprinkler systems around the
library, using latest topography layouts to
point out specific locations of sprinkler heads,
coverage capabilities and difficulties. It was
suggested that a modification in the landscaping
plan be proposed —that a path from corner of Lacuna and Elmwojodj
to the sidewalk bordering the parking lot in front}
of the library be included. Mr. Hill agreed . »
to bring the matter to fcha attention of the proper,
authorities. J
He also reported that the Parks and Recreation S
Commission favored using the transient tax to finance
the landscaping. However, before this could be ',
•realized the City Council must approve ordnance j
changes which will allow it. The amount which will
be distributed to the Library is yet unspecified j
because bids on the job have not been received ye1}.
However, it is expected that the amount will be !
inthe vicinity of $3000. Presently, the plans \
and the matter of bids are in the hands of Bill !
Baldwin, City Purchasing Agent. )
Mr. Hill indicated he would send a letter of »
ap reciation to the Parks and Recreation Commission
on behalf of the Board. . (
NEW BUSINESS
Ten Tear Plan for Library--
Librarian Cole expressed a desire for the i
implementation in the near future- of a study !
for future library services in the population {
expanding North County in order to determine to sbme
extent what role the Carlsbad Library might j
play in, this expansion. The study would be pursufedover a period of years . The discussion was j
carried on in the interest of getting reactions a|nd !
