CITT OF CARLSBAD Minutes ©f Library Board of Trustees—Special Meetin Time ©f Meeting: 8:00 p.m. Carlsbad City Library Date, ef Meeting: Trustees Present; Wrench, Sheffler, Hill, Howard-Jones, Librarian ' The meeting was called ta ordpr by President Wench. New Business The tspie under consideration for the duration ©f this mee ing 'was the recommendation ef the Special Gifts Comnittee ©f the library tha,t the proposed gift of the Carlsbad Garden Club, the metal sculpture by Mr. Ganz, not le accepted. Their recommendation was based an the judgment that it, the sculpture, was unsuited far the intended location, the atrium. ' Mrs. Dorothy Sheffler moved the approval of the Gifts Committee's recommendation. Seconded by Mr. Hill. The motion came under discussion and after much.'con- sideration it was decided the Board did net wish te jr'ender such final decision at this time. The Motion was defeated. Another m©ti©n was then proposed and accepted, to wit: Request the Airt Gifts Committee meet jointly with officers ©f the Garden Club and Board of Trustees to: 1) Obtain a written statement of the Garden ,v Club membership's pssitien with regard t© the Gans sculpture proposal, and 2) t© establish mutually (Garden Club membership, Board of Trustees, Art Gifts Committee) criteria f©r selecting whatever work the Garden Club membership propsses to give to the Library. Mrs. Howard-Jonss x«ras chosen to represent the Board at these discussions. However, any other member of the Board may attend as well. Conferences Tentatively scheduled for attendance at California League of Cities Conference in Los Angeles was Dorothy Sheffler. Other Business ( • Ysr. Hill asked to be excused from the next regulafc Board meeting.
