has been received. Mr. Hill and Mr. Hiokethier will make a personal call
there before the next Board meeting.
Mr. uill and Mr. Hickethier will make use of the Griff in-Grogenhagen
figures on salary schedules in preparation of the budget for 71-72.
'i'hey will also use the News Notes of California Libraries, Winter, 1970
for a state survey of Librarians' salaries.
Circulation figures for the last part of 1970(July through December) are
up about 18-20 % over the same period in 1969.. this is partly due to the
two summer months of 1969 when the Library was closed in the evening.
Mrs. Read -reported on the last CIC meeting which she attended. They are very
favorable toward the idea of posting information in Sjbanish about Library
events in the downtown area. It was suggested that the. Friends could
pejrform the task of posting notices. The Cic also noted that there is a
need for transportation of children from the Boys' Club to the Libraryt
ginoe Mrs. Tirona has been unable to continue her work at the Boys' Club.
The Friends of the Library will be asked to help with this.
A review of the library expenditure figures showed a large sum spent on
contractual services, which involved remedying various deficiencies in the
building from its construction. Also, as one of the city janitors was hurt
moving boxes of books, the library has had to pay for another janitor to
take his plaoe. ' '
xt was suggested that Ruth Banks be invited to attend the next Board meeting.
