July 10, 1972 - Meeting - Minutes
Meeting opened at 4:00 P.M. with the following members present:
Anita Donahue, Chairman, Clay W1est, Secretary, Dorothy Read, Ray Brook-
hart, Nancy Ricci, representative of the Friends of.th'e Library and guests
Mrs. R. N. (Dorothy) Sheffler and Father W. A. Driver*. Librarian, Georgin
D. Cole.
OLD BUSINESS;
Minutes of the June 12, 1972 meeting were read and approved.
LANDSCAPING REPORT
Clay Wiest, Chairman of the Landscape Committee, reported that he
had met with Bob Johnston of the Parks and Recreation Department - and
reported that no proflres's. had been made. The Board authorizes Investi-
gating commercial landscape services.
BOARD VACANCIES.
Mrs. R. N. Sheffler and Father W. A. Driver, nominees for three year
terms on the Library- Board of Trustees, have accepted their nominations.
NEW BUSINESS:
A discussion was conducted on the budgeting for and opening of the
second mezzanine. Mrs. Cole will study costs Involved.
Plans for the reference section include adding two sections of card
catalogue. Reference section reorganization includes the removal of some
shelving to the genealogy section.
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT:
The statistics for this past year have been phenomenal. They very
clearly reflect the heavy increase in book circulation and film use.
Mary Ann Westfall and Clayton Blackburn are the two Summer Interns
who will be spending some time in the Carlsbad City Library. This program
is sponsored by the Serra Regional Library System.
Gloria Chawla, the new reference librarian, hired through the PEP
(Federally funded) program 1s anticipated to assume duties by July 24th.
