Alvln W. Ray of Sari DlegO'had • been contacted and submitted- a' proposal for four phases of the work. These wore studied. Mr. Flanagan had suggested elimination of the elevator and substitution of a dumbwaiter tio cut costs. The Board agreed, He had also suggested onlytone stairway be constructed, but since many citizen groups request use of the library fon moetings, tho Hoard decided to stay with its 2-stairway1 plan, as groups might be scheduled into this area in'the future. Ways to correct this were explored.i •• •• i LIBRARIAN'S REPORTS ' . \ i '' • . , .'•>,. i Mrs. Cole announced that the Mini Library to.be In a ;room / of the HUD office at the corner of Jefferson and Arbuckle ' will be opened May 21. Hours will be 3-6 P.M. weekdays / and 9A.M-1P.M. on Saturdays. Tho Braille mobile will be here from 10A^M.-4P.Mf on'' June 18. ' ' i i . ' The summer reading program starts also- on June 18 with the therne Of knowing the city departments. The position of Children's Librarian is in the proposed budget, but we would ' liko to get this filled before the summer program starts. ' t The problem of transportation of books to various areas was discusned. There is a regular trip to Carlsbad-by-thei- Boa Home, now tho Mini Library and a proposed branch at , • La Costu in .the near future.
