' NEW BUSINESS: •Librarian Cole encouraged the Board to attend the Braille Mobil display on June 18, This is a part'of the Los'Angeles Braille Institute. The library has, as a gift frpm the Carlsbad Woman's Club, a group of len,ses which can be used by visually handicapped persons and which will be a part of the display. ' Librarian Cole told further plans for the Children's Summer Rea ' ing Program,, "Close-up on Carlsbad," and showed pictures of, department, heads which'will be,used to acquaint children with those community members in City Hall. The League of California Cities will have a dinner at Rancho Carlsbad on Thursday, June 21. ' The Serra Library slide show, "What You See Is Wliat You Get'/ will be presented. The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce project for the County Fair wa designed by Pat Hanson of the Library. It will feature a 10- minute slide show and tape about Carlsbad. The Fair "is from June 22 - July 4. • ,' . > , t ' Librarian Cole explained about funding cuts for libraries from both state and federal budgets and activities of new organizati in attempts to get the funding restored. i Chairman Bro.olchart announced that June is the last meeting of t year and his term as chairman and Mary Casler's as secretary wi expire, arid'new selections will be made at the* July meeting.
