LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Special meeting — June 9, 1978
The meeting was called to order at 11:10 P.M. by Father Driver,
acting as president in Mrs. Schindler's absence. In attendance
were Trustees Hammond and Munn, and Trustee-elect Brownley.
Also: Mrs. Cole, Librarian; Mrs. Hoder, Administrative Assis-
tant; Absent: Mrs. Schindler and Mr. Falkenstein.
Father Driver announced that the special meeting was called to
"consider and advise" cuts on the approved library budget (as
approved by the Trustees on March 30, 1978 for submission to
the City Manager).
Mrs. Hoder led the Board through the cuts proposed by the Librar
staff, explaining each item in detail.
Discussion followed and the Board voted unanimously to approve
submission of the proposed budget cuts to the City Manager
immediately.
The Board decided to send a letter to the Mayor, with copies to
the Council and the Manager, explaining the misgivings of the
Board about the extent and nature of the cuts. The Board agreed
to meet in special session on Monday, June 12, at 10:00 A.M. to
discuss the contents of that letter rather than to draft hastily
a note to accompany the list of budget cuts, which the City
Manager wished to have on June 9.
The meeting was Adjourned at 12:30 P.M.
