request information from the City Finance Department concerning Finance's
projection that the library program will need $14 million dollars over
the next ? years (i.e. how was the figure arrived at?). The motion
passed unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS
Goals and Objectives—After each Board member voiced his ideas on goals
and objectives, the Board, on a motion from Mrs. Munn and a second from
Mrs. Brownley, approved the following (which will be submitted as an
agenda item for the Council):
Resolved: That the Council create a task force to
consider location and financing of a central library
facility for the City of Carlsbad;
Further, that the composition of the task force be
in keeping with the recommendations made by Mr. Holt
in his revised master plan for the library (p. 97).
NEW BUSINESS
Mr. Cipriano asked Mrs. Cole to clarify the policy of the Serra System
regarding use of films by public school teachers.
FRIENDS
The final "Little Things Sale" on December 17 netted $177; One hundred
dictionaries have been sold; Jack Smith of the Los Angeles Times will
speak at the Library on January 31.
LIBRARIAN
Mrs. Cole reported that the National Endowment for the Humanities had
granted $10,000 for continued grant planning of the Library's local
history project. The Librarian also requested that this quarter's CLSA
