ReadsTogether 2018 Summary
Throughout the month of February, the Carlsbad City Library hosted 30 individual events as part of its
13th Annual Carlsbad Reads Together {CRT) program. Carlsbad Reads Together brings community
members together and engages them in discussion about the same selection of books at the same time.
Carlsbad Reads Together 2018 celebrated author Daniel H. Pink.
The month was filled with a variety of programs revolving around the themes discussed in Pink's works,
including book club discussions, film screenings, participatory workshops on creative efforts including
improv, drawing, Zentangle, virtual reality, Baroque music, a community art project, genealogy
programs focused on the art of storytelling, and an engaging lecture and Q&A session with Mr. Pink,
made possible through funding support from the Friends of the Carlsbad Library.
A total of 1,045 people attended CRT-related
events. The capstone author event featuring
Daniel Pink was held on Feb. 11, 2018, in the
Schulman Auditorium with live streaming to the
Gowland Meeting Room and Cole Community
Room. Mr. Pink's talk attracted 278 attendees
across the three venues.
CIRCULATION

planning focused on four of Daniel Pink's works:
A Whole New Mind, Drive, To Sell is Human and

To better understand how we can improve the program, an evaluation form was distributed at all
events and service counters at each facility during the month of February. A copy of the evaluation
form was also made available for completion via Survey Monkey. The evaluation helps the library
gather and understand feedback about the programs offered and marketing methods used, as well as
soliciting suggestions for genres and titles that will help guide future CRT selections.
