Secretary Smith reviewed the application of the City of Carls-
bad as prospective lessee of the old Catholic Church building at
3075 Harding Street, in an R-2 zone, requesting a conditional per-
mit to allow use of the building as a City Ha11 and Police Station
(not a jail), signed by Edward C. Hagen, City Clerk.
Mrs. Ruth Crilly submitted a statement signed by a number or
residents of the neighborhood, afflnming their desire to co-operate
with the City, but requesting that the building be not used for
booking noisy or dangerous persons or felons, that restraint be
used in sounding the siren, and that every effort be made to avoid
unnecessary or extreme noise. Mrs. Crilly was assured that it was
the feeling of the Commission that police officers would exercise
judgment and restraint in use of the siren, that it was not contem-
plated to use the premises as a fire station at the present time,
and that the proposed lease would not allow use of the building as
a jail,
