Sutherland i p; I: ; : : OLD BUSINESS: i (b) Revision of the Industrial Zoning Ordinance - i Amendments to C-1 , C-2 and M Zones v * I I I I:;!;; * I I ,I/:?- I I ,:;:: I I 'I;:; p;:; I I I :;;:; ::::; :I* I I I I I The Chairman announced the Commission are referring : i to Roman Numeral No. 2 of the proposed amendment to I ;lo1* 11:; 14;; 1 ::!!s Al" "-2" --d:-"-e I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I -2- updating the commercial zoning in order that future commercial enterprises wilt be more compatible with neighborhood uses, and so the City will be in a better : : position to invite light industry to the City. I 1 I I I I The Commission discussed the uses in the present C-1 ana I the uses permitted in the C-1 taken from Stanford Researdh ; Institute's recommendations and agreed upon the following: I See C-1 and C-2 attached hereto. I In order to expedite these amendments, the Chairman i i appointed the following committees to consider M-1 and : : M-1 -A, taking drom the old ordinance and using suggestiobs from DMJM and those under Roman numeral No. 2; and : i stated that he would be willing to help them if they wished; i Commissioners Lamb and McCarthy to serve on the M-1 i ; zoning committee. : Commissioners Grant and Suthertand to serve on the i M-1 -A zoning committee. : The committees agreed to meet in the Council Chambers. ; i The City Manager announced that Ken Norwood from : DMJM would be at the City Hall on Thursday, July 2,19643, i to interview department heads and to find out what the Citg's : goals and objectives are; how far do you want to go, and i i what the Commission and community want. C-l. NEIGHBORHOOD COMMERCIAL ZONE. Section 1000. PERMITTED USES: The following regulations shall apply in all C-1 Districts and shall be subject to the provisions of Article 15. Professional offices, community centers , social halls, lodges and clubs. consumers wihtin a building including appliance stores, antique shops, bakeries (not wholesale), banks, barbershops, beauty parlors, book stores, department stores, delicatessen stores, dressmaking or millinery shops, drug stores, drygoodsstores, florist shops, food shops, grocery or fruit stores, hardware stores, jewelry stores * launderettes or coin operated dry cleaning establishments, laundries or clothes clean- ing agencies (pickup and delivery only), liquor stores (excluding general on-sale), meat markets, offices, paint stores, pet supply shops (exclud- ing pets), radio and television stores, realtors, retail shoe and repair shops; restdurants, tea rooms or cafes, including on-sale beer and wine uses in conjunction with restaurants (excluding dancing or entertainment and general on-sale liquor) ; stationery stores, studios, tailor or cloth- ing or wearing apparel shops, and other uses which in the opinion of the Planning Commission are compatible and are of similar use. Retail stores and personal service establishments catering directly to - (c) Signs appurtenant to the permittedxuse only. Section LOO1 1.002, 1003 1004 and 1005. (Retained with no change). ARTICLE 11. C-2. GENERAL COMMERCIAL ZONE. The following regulations shall apply in all C-2 Districts and shall be subject to the provisions of Article 15. Section 1100. PERMITTED USES. (a) Any use permitted in the C -1 zone. (b) Animal hospitals, auction house or stores, auto wash (semi-automatic), auto sales and repair shops, bakeries, bars, cocktail lounges (on-sale liquor), body and fender repair shops, boat sales, carpet cleaning or dyeing establish- ments, frozen food lockers, hotelsrar motels, laundries, mortuaries, news- paper or printing shops, outdoor markets, outdoor sales, pet shops, plant nurseries, parcel service delivery, photo engraving, public garages ,theaters, used car sales, upholstering shops, wholesare, retail or service business catering directly to the consumer, and any other uses which in the opinion of the Planning Commission are compatible and are of similar use.
