COMMISSIONER/STAFF REPORTS
Gail Lynn, Recreation Area Manager, reported to the Commission that the 2006 Health Expo will
be held on Saturday, July 8th 2006 at the Carlsbad Senior Center from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. On
Sunday, July 30th the 18 Annual Ice Cream Social will be held from 11 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the
new Pine Avenue Community Park located next to the Senior Center.
Lynn researched the question about refurbishing the cement planter box. Scott Bradstreet, City
Park Planner, was in charge of the courtyard remodel. An artist had been requested to provide a
design concept however; there was no budget for the work. Lynn will find out if something can be
done in the future to enhance the look of the cement planter box. Lynn recommended waiting on
improvements until the Senior Center expansion has been completed.
Jack Risley, Recreation Supervisor, gave an update on the Congregate meal program. Risley
informed the Commissioners that the Nutrition Council is sponsoring a fashion show on Thursday,
April 27, 2006 held in the auditorium. Tickets are $5.00 and refreshments and live entertainment
are included in the price of admission. All proceeds will benefit the Nutrition Program.
