MEETING OF: Senior Commission
DATE OF MEETING: June 5, 2008
TIME OF MEETING: 3:00 p.m.
PLACE OF MEETING: Senior Center
1. CALL TO ORDER: Chairperson Nelson called the Regular Meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.
2. ROLL CALL was taken by the secretary as follows:
Present: Hopkins, Nelson, O'Connell, Savary and Surridge
Absent: None
3. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner O'Connell led the Pledge of Allegiance.
4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
On motion by Commissioner Savary the Minutes of the following meeting was unanimously
approved:
Minutes of the Regular Meeting held May 1, 2008.
5. NEW BUSINESS:
A. AB# 0605-1 Summary Report of May 1. 2008
ACTION: On a motion by Commissioner O'Connell Commission
adopted/approved to accept the May 1, 2008 Summary Report.
AYES: Hopkins, Nelson, O'Connell, Savary and Surridge
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
B. AB# 0605-2 Acceptance of Donation
ACTION: On a motion by Commissioner O'Connell the Commission
adopted/approved a donation of $150.00 from Al and Afton Jandro.
AYES: Hopkins, Nelson, O'Connell, Savary and Surridge
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
6. COMMITTEE REPORTS:
A. Commissioner Surridge reported the Tri-City Board of Directors have voted to
put an alternative Bond Proposal Initiative to be sent out to voters by a special mail-only ballot
in mid-July 2008.

B. Recreation Area Manager, Gail Lynn reported the Fitness Room is offering a
sign-up in June and new customers will receive the month of July free as an incentive to join.
Gail Lynn updated the Commission on upcoming events. Two new classes have
been added to the list of activities on Tuesday's, Drawing and Ukulele. These two classes are
popular and participation keeps growing every week.
C. Recreations Supervisor, Jack Risley updated the Commission on the serving
numbers of Congregate and Home Meals for May and June. Mother's Day lunch was sold out
in the dining room. Since we were closed on Memorial Day the congregate celebrated the
Friday before Memorial Day with home cooked barbequed hamburgers and hot dogs.
Commission received an update on the number of participants in the Congregate
and Home Meal programs for the months of April and May.
7. ADJOURNMENT:
By proper motion, the Regular Meeting of June 5, 2008 was adjourned at 3:50 p.m.
