MEETING OF: Senior Commission
DATE OF MEETING: December 2, 2010
TIME OF MEETING: 3:00 p.m.

CALL TO ORDER: Commissioner Nelson called the Regular Meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL was taken by the secretary as follows:
Present: Nelson, Savary and Surridge
Absent: O'Connell
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Savary led the Pledge of Allegiance.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: On motion by Commissioner Savary, the minutes of the October
7, 2010 meeting were unanimously approved.
CONSENT CALENDAR:
1. AGENDA ITEM # 1210-1 SUMMARY REPORT - (ACTION)
ACTION: On motion by Commissioner Surridge and with the correction of adding
Commissioner Savary to the list of attendees on the October Summary Report,
unanimously accepted the October 7, 2010 Summary Report.
AYES: Nelson, Savary and Surridge
NOES: None
ABSENT: O'Connell
DEPARTMENT REPORTS:
AGENDA ITEM # 1210-2 VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION EVENT - (ACTION)
2. ACTION: On motion by Commissioner Surridge Commission unanimously
approved the March 5, 2011 Volunteer Recognition Event held at the Senior
Center 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Mardi Gras theme.

3. AGENDA ITEM # 1210-3 SENIOR CENTER REPORT - (ACTION)
ACTION: On motion by Commissioner Savary, Commission unanimously
approved the December 2, 2010 Senior Center Report.

Gail Lynn, Recreation Area Manager, gave an overview of the October and
November events. One of the highlights for October and November was the Koko
Beach Fundraiser for the Senior Center. The gift donations from the sponsors
were an enormous success. Over 50 drawing prizes were given out in the Dining
Room.
Jack Risley, Recreation Supervisor, reported 34 home meals were delivered for
Thanksgiving Moms Meals. The special meal of Prime rib, chef potatoes,
asparagus and cheese cake for dessert were delivered by volunteers.
Gail reminded Commissioners of the Parks and Recreation Commission Holiday
Event at Carrillo Ranch, Friday, December 3, 2010 at 6:00 p.m.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Anna Hopkins resignation; Gail will send a thank you letter for her service.
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS:
Nominations for Vice-Chairperson.
ADJOURNMENT:
By proper motion, the Regular Meeting of December 2, 2010 was adjourned to Carrillo Ranch
at 3:20 p.m.
