Gail Lynn, Recreation Area Manager, gave an overview of the December and
January highlights. On December 11, the Annual Holiday Hawaiian Dance
performance was held in the auditorium. Each year the senior's look forward to the
show and over 125 people attended. Also in December, the Ukulele class
serenaded the seniors at lunch in the dining room. In January one of our most
enjoyed volunteer teachers is moving on. Volunteer, Richard Brian taught
watercolor painting at the center. His class was well attended not just to learn
watercolor techniques but to gather for the camaraderie. He will be missed.
A new group beginning in January, called "Writing our Lives," will be lead by Donna
Brown Agins, who has years of experience teaching creative writing.
Jack Risley, Recreation Supervisor, reported that the congregate attendance is
improving. The holiday meal for congregate and home meals was Prime Rib with
all the fixings. Jack mentioned the caterer who prepares meals for congregate and
home meals will cater the Volunteer Recognition Event.
The Annual Volunteer Recognition Event will be held at the Senior Center on March
5, 2010, 5.00 p.m. to 8 p.m. The theme this year is Mardi Gras, hors d'oeuvres,
desserts, and entertainment will be provided.
